Welcome on board, SabreDAV!

We're excited to announce the acquisition of SabreDAV!

SabreDAV is a sophisticated and modular open source WebDAV technology. As the leading provider of independent personal synchronization solutions we've put tremendous efforts over the last years into the further development of the project and especially its CardDAV, CalDAV and WebDAV-Sync components, which we all leverage heavily at fruux.

We couldn't be happier to have appointed Evert Pot as our Chief Technology Officer at fruux and also to finally officially welcome this awesome piece of technology in the family.

Why is SabreDAV important?

SabreDAV is battle-tested and helps millions of people around the globe to keep their devices in sync without getting trapped in a specific eco-system or suffering from vendor lock-in. SabreDAV is a critical component in dozens of large scale projects and enterprise implementations. First and foremost fruux as the driving force behind SabreDAV, but also projects such as Atmail, Baïkal, ownCloud, PHProjekt and Tine 2.0 - just to name a few.

CardDAV and CalDAV are the only modern and open standards for contact, calendar and task synchronization. With these standards users know that their data is always portable and available, regardless of the devices or applications they'll use in the future. The standards are already widely supported and adoption is increasing at lightspeed. Just recently BlackBerry started supporting these technologies on the BlackBerry 10 platform and PlayBook OS. Microsoft also just announced that CardDAV and CalDAV support is coming to Windows Phone.

We're committed to open technologies!

At fruux, we remain committed to the vision of open technologies and the promises they hold for the future. We are very excited to accelerate and strengthen fruux' position within the open source community. Today we're also launching a directory of all the open source projects we're working on, which we hope to extend as we go.

Want to see SabreDAV in action?

Great! Nothing easier than that, just sign up for fruux and check it out. Syncing your data between different devices and applications is just the basic functionality. With CardDAV and CalDAV you're able to do so much more, like:

Again, welcome to fruux!
